About Us

About Us

Disley Under Fives originally started as a playgroup based in the old Disley Methodist Church; We moved to Disley Primary School on Dane Bank Drive in 2007.

Operating as a charity, the preschool has grown in size and now forms an integral part of the Disley community.

Disley Under Fives inhabits 2 large self-contained rooms within the school grounds; The Building itself used to be the old Laundry & School Cookery rooms.

In 2021 we developed and opened a small outdoor play area with fun activities this is adjacent to the setting and is fenced with Astro turf.

Children are able to attend the preschool from the age of 2 until they start school.

Your child is our priority

Here at Disley Under Fives, we are child-oriented. Supporting and encouraging personality development, autonomy and creativity are top priorities for us.

Developing social interaction and understanding differences in others also plays an important role in our work.

We aim to give your child/ren the best start to school life by encouraging children to build the skills they need to be 'school ready' by the end of their Preschool year. We work with the Reception teachers to ensure we have an understanding of their expectations for School starters.

We also support you, the parent, in bringing up your child.

We operate as a charity rather than a for-profit business, therefore we ensure that we have the children's interest firmly at the top of our priorities.

Our Purpose

To work in partnership with the families in our community to enable children to reach their potential. Setting them up for their start to school life.

Our Aim

  • Focus on all round support for each child specific to their individual needs and age to ensure they can be 2, 3 or 4
  • Work in partnership with families in the community
  • Getting children ready for school – we are the experts
  • Share knowledge and expertise with the school
  • Developing independence for school to maximise learning potential
  • Creating familiarity with the setting to build confidence
  • None profit making, all resources invested for the children’s needs
  • Supporting the community with its needs re. expertise, space etc

We believe in working together

Successful co-operation between parents and teachers is important because it also has an effect on your child's development.
We also encourage parents to join our committee which runs the group and we ask parents to help throughout the year with fundraising.
